DUO:Japanese Garden 1

From a recent trip to PDX Japanese garden. 2 layers composited (DUO). Initially there were artifacts that looked like over saturation when I adjusted the opacity of the frames. Not sure why it happened. I then adjusted the brightness and HLS settings a bit to highlight this result.

Repairing What is Broken repost

NOTE July, 2016: YouTube has long ago corrected the mono limitation and this video is in full stereo and is best listened to with headphones or with quality external monitors.

Above is an inferior embedded YouTube version, no stereo sound:

It seems that YouTube handles the audio in uploaded videos as mono signals. Folks claim there are ways to get around this but I have not been successful with their instructions. I find that you can improve the quality on the YouTube site but this method does not transfer to embedded video use.

This video suffers a bit because of this. In the original, as you can hear with the above Flash player, the voice over parts are separated in the stereo field. This separation keeps them from masking each other. Here, the separation is not preserved and the listening is more challenging. This is a great example of how some applications of Pop technology can put limits on creative output.

Getting back to it, and new articles.

I will start posting here again after some time away tending to life in other spheres. Recently, I have been writing more for Oregon Arts Watch and will post links like this one:

It is a dual authored post and my section is down a bit.

And this one:
